On the search: Sophisticated LBD

I could literally look at little black dresses (LBD) everyday for the rest of my life.
There is something so intriguing (or not intriguing) on each and everyone.
Of course, you need more than one.

A list of LBDs you need:

-Sexy date night LBD
-Effortless work day LBD
-Coverup to tiki bar LBD
-Work to happy hour LBD
-Fashion forward LBD (+ leather!)
-Sophisticated (Knock a presentation at work out out of the park!) LBD

Today, I am on the search for a sophisticated LBD.
And I have to say, this has been a big challenge!
I use ShopStyle a lot when searching for items like this.

(Do you ever use ShopStyle? You can type in anything you are looking for, i.e. "sophisticated black dress" and it searches all online shopping websites for that item!)

I actually used to have the perfect sophisticated LBD from Banana Republic, but I finally admitted to myself the bleach stain (HOW did it get there?!?) on the front was actually not subtle and very noticeable.

I've been on the search all day long (I'm home sick with strep, BOO!) and I haven't found anything good.
Do y'all have any great ideas on places to look???

HELP a sista out!

Spotlight on: Devon Leigh

To know me is to know I love jewelry.
Nothing small or dainty, but big, big, big statement pieces.

There's one designer that is taking my love for big statement pieces to a whole new level:
Devon Leigh

I haven't ever worn my Devon Leigh pieces and not gotten compliments!
Below are some of my favorite items right now:

Red Howlite Drop Earrings- $295

Golden Ball Necklace- $850
Turquoise Teardrop Earrings- $295

Devon doesn't just make jewelry that is edgy, trendy, and unique...she is SO much fun.
I met her a few days ago and she is like THE BOMB.

View her collection at Neiman Marcus here and watch out for a trunk show coming to your nearest NM store this fall!

Put her on your radar, she is going to be BIG!

July Wish List

I really wish I didn't have such good taste
My financial advisor and I would be on much better terms.

However, I don't.
I don't wear ugly clothes and I most certainly do not wear ugly accessories.
Sorry I am not sorry.

Here are a few items on my wish list...most of which are just that
*Wishes*

Oscar de la Renta Cabochon Drop Clip Earrings- I received the fuchsia pair as a gift, but am dying over the black/white!
ML Monique Lhuilier One Shoulder Trumpet Gown- Also, need somewhere to wear this

Tom Ford Natalia Large Patchwork Calf Hair Bag- A simply gorgeous bag. Totally as potential to be the next "IT" handbag!
Tom Binns Crystal Necklace- So fun and playful. It would dress up any LBD!
Valentino Rockstud Block Heel- The studs are here to stay and I don't care, I LOVE IT!

We all need something to wish for, right?

Emergency MUST HAVE!

It was an emergency:
I was headed to California for days full of vineyard tours and I had nothing to wear on my feet except wedges

I stopped by CUSP to {surprisingly} find these Sam Edelman flip flops:

They are SO cute, magically match everything in my closet
{maybe because everything I own is animal print?}
and are SO comfortable I wore them every. single. day.

Get a pair here!

Lots of love cheetah ladies!

Did you miss me? Napa Recap!

Hello Gorgeous!
Did you miss me?
A girls trip to Napa came at a truly perfect time.
I think I could have stayed there forever, just the four of us,
wining and dining our lives away.

The vineyards were beautiful, the meals were out of this world, and the wine...well there's just something about drinking wine in July in 60 degree weather in the middle of a vineyard in California that makes it taste even better.

Wednesday evening, we landed in Sacramento, greeted by Susu and her famous chocolate chip cookies.
They really are the greatest.
Even Better than JD's Chippery
(my favorite Dallas cookie spot!)

Thursday we were up bright and early
(this crew I traveled with are serious early birds!)
and off to the Valley!
After a quick grocery run, we were poolside, and the wine began to flow.
Thursday evening we were off to downtown Napa to celebrate the 4th with lots of cocktails and fireworks!

We ended up at Morimoto (yes, Iron Chef!) for some late night bites!
I highly recommend this restaurant, as it is truly a treat.

Friday morning, we were up and at em early for a walk among the vineyards!
We explored town, ate ice cream for breakfast and picked up champagne for mimosas.
We got ready for a day of wine tasting and sported our "I go both ways"
(red wine and white wine)
t shirts!!!

A fabulous lunch at Mustard's Grill is a total must if you are in the valley.
We enjoyed the sweet corn tamales, cheddar-jalapeno corn stix, BBQ pork, burgers...
OK! Everything!!!

A pool party was in order after our wine tastings...then a cheese (and wine) tour of Napa...the hot tub...
the fun don't stop!

Saturday, we were up early for a full day of winery tours!
Frank Family, Darioush, Robert Sinskey to name a few
a BUSY day in the vineyards!!!

An AMAZING dinner at Carpe Diem, where we drank Hannah's XXI birthday wine!
(We swear there was something funky in that vino, we got cray!)

A pit stop for ice cream after dinner made us sleepy and ready for bed but a quick
(or not so quick)
run in with a Bachelor party landed us at a nightclub!!!

Sunday, we were NOT ready to leave!
Unfortunately, reality bites.
A long day of traveling led us back to Big D

Last week was a big week of changes at work
(my poor blog got the bad end of that deal!!!)
BUT, I promise I am back with a FULL week of posts
ready for YOU!

What is everyone up to?
Lots of rain in Dallas
I am at a work convention- we were Karoake'in till the wee early hours!
Off to meetings!
Much love to my blog readers, thank you for being so loyal!!!

I wish I was still in Napa...

Baked Zucchini Fries

This is my favorite recipe that I have made since I got really into cooking.
I think I would rather have these things than french fries!!!

Baked Zucchini Fries

Ingedients:
- 3/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
-1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-1/4 cup Garlic Salt
-2 Zucchinis, cut in half lenghtwise
-1/4 cup butter
(Next time I would use eggs or egg whites to get the bread crumbs to stick instead of butter, however, the previous night I had a egg white disaster trying to make breaded chicken...well that's a story for another day)

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees, cover your baking sheet with foil and spray with Pam.
2. Cut Zucchini into french fry looking sticks, and set out for a hour so that the zucchini will dry out and they will be crispier when they cook.
3. Combine the bread crumbs, grated cheese, and garlic salt into a bowl.  Melt the butter and dip the zucchini into the butter then into the bread crumbs combination.
4. Cook for 20-25 minutes, the crispier the better in my opinion.
(Serve with buttermilk ranch or marinara sauce!)

These would be perfect for an appetizer or a side dish.
Gosh, I am salivating just thinkin' about them!!!

Cook On.

Little Miss Wade: MIA

Hello Lovers!
Sorry that Little Miss Wade was MIA last Thursday and Friday.
It was my best friend Hannah's birthday week
{why yes, she gets a week!}
And we started the celebrations last Saturday and haven't stopped partyin' since!

It's going to be a short week for me-
I'm in the office for 2 days then heading to Wine Country for a little R & R.

5 Things you need to know about:
  •  I made baked Zucchini fries last week. HOLY MOLY. These are to die for. (For the recipe check back tomorrow!) Next time I'm going to make homemade Marinara for dipping. Of course I had homemade ranch on hand!
  • Jessica Simpson and her fiance (who is that again?) had their second baby. The name is Ace Knute Johnson (What the heck is Knute? I guess it's better than North...)
  • Paula Deen is in deep deep doodoo.  Keep. Your. Mouth. Shut.
  • Stein's Bakery- The oldest bakery in Dallas. Their cakes are to-die-for.  We had two for Hannah's birthday: a chocolate with vanilla butter cream icing and a strawberry with strawberry butter cream icing!

    Keep the Party Goin'
